Energy storage leader Sunverge Energy named Clinton Davis as its Senior Vice President of Product and Program Management. Davis will be responsible for continuing the rapid expansion of Sunverge’s hardware and software offerings that enable dynamic, automated and cost-effective management of the distribution grid. He also will direct the enhancement of the innovative services the company provides to electric utilities, retailers and solar installers to help them realize new value streams.
“Clinton’s appointment reinforces the commitment Sunverge has had from day one: to provide unparalleled grid services via intelligent, aggregated energy storage and advanced control software,” said Sunverge CEO Ken Munson. “Clinton brings valuable energy industry hardware and software experience that will help us continue to deliver the technology solutions utilities need to support the next generation power grid and to develop the cutting-edge energy storage appliances solar installers need to help customers consume more of their own solar power.”
Davis joins Sunverge from global industrial company ABB where he was most recently Vice President of Generation and Renewable Industry Solutions. Previous positions include Vice President of Transmission and Distribution Industry Solutions, Director of Smart Grid Product Strategy and Industry Solutions Executive. Under his leadership, ABB was awarded the 2014 Innovation Award at European Utility Week for its Outage Lifecycle Management software. Customers using the software reported over 30 percent reduction in electric outage times without increasing operation and maintenance costs.
“It’s an honor to join Sunverge during this exciting stage of growth for the company and the industry,” said Davis. “I’m excited to partner with our stakeholders to make renewable power reliable, economical and accessible to all. We will continue our founding mission and our intense focus on maximizing the value of distributed energy resources to consumers, service providers, utilities, markets and communities.”
San Francisco-based Sunverge Energy allows homeowners efficient management of their own renewable energy generation and helps utilities, retailers and solar power providers manage those renewable power sources and aggregate them into Virtual Power Plants across neighborhoods, communities and entire service areas — reliably, effectively and intelligently. Founded in 2009, the company makes the Sunverge Solar Integration System (SIS), a distributed energy storage and management appliance comprised of powerful storage batteries, power electronics, and system-management software running in the cloud. The Sunverge SIS lowers costs, increases energy reliability, strengthens the grid, and accelerates the adoption and integration of distributed renewable energy. Investors include the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), SBCVC, Siemens Venture Capital and Total Energy Ventures International.
