Ideol has announced the completed assembly of the Floatgen floating wind turbine, which is expected to be operational by the end of the year. The demonstration project is to be moored 22 kilometers off the coast of Le Croisic in western France, the SEM-REV experimental test site, where it will ship off to later today.
Beforehand, and inauguration event is being held by Ideol in the port of Saint-Nazaire, with “Ocean and climate change” being the central theme, according to Ideol.
The project consists of Bouygues foundations and a Vestas V80 2MW turbine. Ecole Centrale de Nantes will carry out monitoring at the test site.
