Construction begins on wind farm in Sporrans, Northern Ireland.

Heavy plant machinery has moved into the Sperrins for the construction of a wind farm near Draperstown, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

Diggers and earth moving machines have started clearing and levelling parts of the mountain for the concrete bases of the turbines at the Crockandun Wind Farm, which lies between Slieve Gallion and Lough Fea.

Brookfield Renewables, the developer of the 18 MW project, operates one of the largest publicly-traded, pure-play renewable power platforms in the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Europe.

It is understood that the wind farm will consist of six turbines.
