Monthly energy storage PPA & Deals Tracker — September 2026

The Voice of Renewables presents our monthly global roundup of energy storage deals announced or closed in August 2026. Covering major PPAs and offtake agreements alongside financing, M&A, refinancings, bonds, tax equity and joint ventures, this is a concise view of the transactions driving energy storage investment and development around the world.

PPAs / Tolling Agreements / Capacity Contracts

Statkraft signed a 10-year, 400 MW / 1.6 GWh tolling agreement with Greenvolt Power to route two Polish BESS projects — Elk and Torosn Koscielna, 200 MW/800 MWh each — to market, optimizing charge and discharge across power and flexibility markets. Reported as the largest publicly disclosed BESS tolling transaction in the EU to date.

Other deals

Northland Power closed roughly PLN 500m (CAD 185m) of project financing plus PLN 280m of grant funding for two Capacity-Market-contracted Polish BESS projects, Mieczyslawow (200 MW/800 MWh) and Kamionka (100 MW/400 MWh), with total capex of about PLN 1.0bn.

Jupiter Power publicly detailed 1.4 billion dollars in project financing across four facilities (lenders including HSBC, SMBC, AB CarVal, Nuveen, ING Capital, Societe Generale and MUFG) backing ten utility-scale BESS projects totalling 1,500 MW / 3,600 MWh in Texas and Michigan, taking its lifetime financings past 3 billion dollars.

GridStor closed 220 million dollars of tax-equity bridge, construction and term debt financing with ING Capital, KeyBank and Zions Capital Markets for its 100 MW / 400 MWh White Tank battery project in Arizona, underpinned by a 20-year tolling agreement with utility APS.

Energy Vault acquired a standalone BESS development portfolio exceeding 2.3 GW (including 350 MW ready-to-build) from Goshe Energy Storage for its Asset Vault platform, alongside up to 40 million dollars of funding from S2G.

Mirova invested 65 million euros of equity into Ingrid Capacity’s Nordic Storage Platform, covering the 45 MW/90 MWh Pedersore project in Finland (ready-to-build, with an offtake agreement) and the 100 MW/200 MWh Vaggeryd project in Sweden.

ZE Energy acquired the roughly 200 MW / approximately 1 GWh “Elena” standalone battery storage project in Italy from Aura Power, adding over 1 GWh to its Italian portfolio.
