Renalfa IPP has completed the repowering of its Kaolinovo photovoltaic (PV) park in Northeast Bulgaria, which is now fully operational.
Originally commissioned in 2012 with a capacity of 10 MWp, the Kaolinovo project has been expanded to an installed capacity of 33 MWp and now includes a co-located battery energy storage system (BESS) with 33 MW/110 MWh capacity.
The project’s EPC contractor and manager was Solarpro Bulgaria.
Renalfa IPP — a joint venture between Vienna-based Renalfa Solarpro Group and French renewable infrastructure fund manager RGREEN INVEST — is a leading investor and developer of renewable energy assets across Central and Eastern Europe. The company currently operates over 554 MW of generation assets and 455 MW/1008 MWh of implemented BESS, with 1 GW under construction and another 1 GW in late-stage development across Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and North Macedonia.
Renalfa IPP is among the few global players with more than 1 GWh of operational battery storage in its portfolio, underscoring its position as a pioneer in integrated renewable and energy storage solutions.
