The Voice of Renewables presents our monthly global roundup of energy storage deals announced or closed in August 2026. Covering major PPAs and offtake agreements alongside financing, M&A, refinancings, bonds, tax equity and joint ventures, this is a concise view of the transactions driving energy storage investment and development around the world.
PPAs / Tolling Agreements
- Centrica Energy & Zelestra (Germany) — 10-year physical tolling agreement for a 99MW/297MWh standalone battery storage project in Lower Saxony; Centrica handles trading and optimisation while Zelestra builds and owns it — one of Germany’s larger single-site merchant BESS tolling deals.
- Saudi Power Procurement Company / Saudi Electricity Co. & ACWA Power, ENGIE, Al Sharif Contracting, Haji Abdullah Alireza & Co. — Four Independent System Provider agreements for standalone 4-hour battery storage across sites in Makkah, Hail and Qassim, totaling 2,000MW/~8GWh worth roughly $1.16 billion — Saudi Arabia’s first large-scale wave of long-term storage offtake contracts.
