The Voice of Renewables presents our monthly global roundup of solar energy deals announced or closed in August 2026. Covering major PPAs and offtake agreements alongside financing, M&A, refinancings, bonds, tax equity and joint ventures, this is a concise view of the transactions driving solar investment and development around the world.

PPAs

  • Equinix & Flo Energy (Singapore) — Equinix signed a 50MWp solar PPA, its fourth in Singapore, lifting its local renewable portfolio to 215MWp for data center operations.
  • ENGIE & QTS (Texas, US) — 48MW AC solar PPA via ABEI Energy’s Lubio Solar Project to power QTS data centers (~150 GWh/year), another data-center-driven Texas solar deal.
  • EDF Power Solutions & NV Energy (Nevada, US) — Two 25-year PPAs for the 400MW solar + 400MW/1,600MWh battery “Winston Energy Project” (~1.11M MWh/year; COD targeted Oct 2029) — one of the month’s largest solar-plus-storage utility offtakes.
  • Syrian Electricity Company & Al-Harfi Construction (Saudi Arabia/Syria) — Three agreements for 760MW solar plus 1,077MW battery storage near Damascus, a major scale-up from a February MoU — a rare large Gulf-backed commitment into Syria’s grid rebuild.
  • ACME Solar & Northeast Frontier Railway (India) — 25-year, 130MW round-the-clock solar PPA at ₹4.35/kWh, Indian Railways locking in firm renewable supply.
  • Sembcorp / Southern Solar Alliance (Malaysia–Singapore) — Conditional approvals for 900MW of cross-border solar-plus-battery imports from Johor into Singapore, targeting ~2029 COD — one of Southeast Asia’s largest cross-border solar trading approvals this year.

Other Deals

  • Recurrent Energy (California, US) — Secured $695 million in project financing for the 330MW Cobalt Solar Project, one of August’s largest single-project solar financings.
  • Avantus (US) — Closed a $1.05 billion upsized corporate credit facility to expand its solar-plus-storage pipeline, signaling continued lender appetite for utility-scale IPPs.
  • Foss & Company / Summit Ridge Energy & Apollo Global Management (Illinois, US) — $150 million Section 48E tax equity investment backing a distributed/community solar portfolio with domestic-content and low-income adders.
  • Dimension Energy (US) — Raised $857 million (credit facility increase plus construction-to-term debt and tax equity) to fund 149MW across 29 distributed solar projects in IL, NJ, NY, PA and VA.
  • Invenergy & Crux Capital Securities (Ohio, US) — $215 million tax equity financing for the 240MW Pleasant Prairie Solar Energy Center.
  • Swift Current Energy (US) — Closed a $750 million corporate credit facility (expandable to $1 billion) with Crédit Agricole CIB, ING Capital and Truist to fund solar/storage development.
  • Brookfield Renewable — Announced issuance of C$750 million in green bonds, part of continued large-scale green debt issuance by major renewable IPPs.
  • ACME Solar (India) — Completed a ₹2,147 crore (~$258M) domestic refinancing redeeming offshore dollar bonds, cutting borrowing costs ~150bps amid FX pressure.
  • Drax Group (UK) — Completed its £548 million acquisition of Bluefield Solar Income Fund, one of the UK’s largest listed-fund solar-and-wind takeovers this year.
  • Brookfield & Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (Canada) — Completed the CAD 37.25/share take-private acquisition of Boralex (~3.8GW wind/solar/hydro/storage portfolio); company delisted from the TSX.
  • Sol Systems (Texas, US) — Acquired the 200MWac Lumberton Solar Project from DESRI, expanding its owned/managed portfolio.
  • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (Mexico) — Reached financial close and began construction on its first Mexico project: 420MW solar plus 750MWh battery storage, backed by ~$510 million in financing.
  • European Energy (Australia) — Achieved financial close on an Australian solar project, part of the continuing wave of Australian solar-plus-storage financings.
  • Haining China Leather Market Co. & Zhejiang Shengmao New Energy (China) — RMB 260 million green bond tied to a RMB 266 million acquisition of 107 distributed PV plants (112.42MW total) — an unusual cross-sector solar consolidation deal.
  • Navitas Planet (Zambia) — Signed a $20 million EPC contract for a 54MW utility-scale solar plant in Serenje Province, part of continued southern African solar build-out.
