WALLESS proudly acted as legal adviser to Olana Energy Oy on its 70 MW / 140 MWh Šalčininkai battery energy storage system (BESS) in Lithuania. Acquired from Aura Power and co-developed with Balancy Grid UAB, the project represents one of the largest energy storage installations in the Baltics, with commercial operation planned for 2026.
The Šalčininkai BESS will strengthen grid stability, provide real-time balancing of renewable generation, and enhance energy security in Lithuania. WALLESS’s expertise in energy law, corporate governance, and real estate development played a key role in making the project possible, ensuring smooth navigation of regulatory, commercial, and permitting requirements.
Special recognition is due to WALLESS Partners Vaidotas Puklevičius and Povilas Žukauskas, Associate Partner Šarūnas Basijokas, and Senior Associates Monika Gadeikė, Eduardas Šimkus, and Raminta Vilčinskaitė for their contributions. Their work supported Olana Energy’s successful market entry and helped position the Šalčininkai project as a milestone in the region’s transition to flexible, sustainable energy.
