The State Enterprise Moldelectrica, as the Transmission System Operator of the Republic of Moldova, announces that, in accordance with Resolution No. 276 of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) dated 30 May 2025, the new regulations establishing the operational framework for the System Services Market and the Balancing Electricity Market have entered into force.
These regulations, developed following amendments to the Electricity Market Rules and the wider regulatory framework approved by ANRE, represent an important milestone in the consolidation and modernisation of Moldova’s electricity market.
The launch of these markets is a key step towards ensuring a more stable and reliable power system, capable of meeting current security and flexibility requirements. The System Services Market will help safeguard electricity quality parameters and the secure operation of the transmission network, while the Balancing Electricity Market will enable real-time correction of imbalances between consumption and generation, thereby strengthening overall system balance and stability.
Through the implementation of these mechanisms, the foundations are laid for a more transparent and competitive market, aligned with European standards. This offers participants the opportunity to actively contribute to balancing processes and to the development of a more efficient and sustainable energy sector. At the same time, the new rules pave the way for the gradual integration of renewable energy sources and expand the framework needed for Moldova’s participation in regional and European electricity markets.
Further information on market operation, participation requirements and applicable rules is available on the official website of Moldelectrica, under the Electricity Market section.
