Enery, a leading independent green power producer in Central and Eastern Europe, has announced the acquisition of Project Lassie—a portfolio comprising 32 operational photovoltaic (PV) power plants across Slovakia with a combined capacity of 34.6 MW. Formerly owned by ContourGlobal (51%) and Energy Infrastructure Partners (49%), the portfolio represents the largest operational solar portfolio in Slovakia. The assets are strategically located across the country, reinforcing Enery’s regional footprint.
For ContourGlobal, the sale marks a key step in its strategic asset rotation programme, aligning with its focus on renewable growth within core markets and advancing its transformation into a predominantly renewable Independent Power Producer (IPP). This divestment follows a series of portfolio optimisation initiatives launched since 2024 to free up capital for reinvestment in greenfield onshore wind and hybrid PV + BESS (battery energy storage system) projects.
The scale and diversification of the Lassie portfolio make it a cornerstone investment in Enery’s regional expansion strategy. With this acquisition, Enery’s total operating portfolio rises to 561 MW, generating approximately 651 GWh of clean electricity each year. The move also strengthens the company’s presence in Slovakia, adding to its existing 10 MW portfolio of three solar plants and complementing a development pipeline of around 0.6 GW.
Richard König and Lukas Nemec, Founders of Enery, told The Voice of Renewables: “With this acquisition, we are deepening our commitment to the Slovak market with a portfolio we know well. Our goal is to support Slovakia’s energy transition by delivering affordable, reliable, and long-term green power solutions for both communities and industry. To ensure long-term competitiveness, Slovak industry needs new solar, wind, and battery storage capacity to secure dependable and cost-effective renewable electricity.”
Ján Horváth, Country Head Slovakia, added: “I am delighted that Enery continues to expand its footprint in Slovakia. We are developing several projects designed to help industrial companies reduce their carbon footprint through long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), granting them access to affordable and reliable renewable energy. This acquisition enables us to play an active role in decarbonising Slovak industry.”
Commenting on the deal, Carlo Zorzoli, Head of Europe and Africa, ContourGlobal, said: “This portfolio has played an important role in advancing solar generation in Slovakia and will continue contributing to the nation’s clean-energy ambitions. We are pleased that our partner, Enery, will continue to operate and develop it with the same dedication to reliability and sustainability. For ContourGlobal, this transaction reflects our strategy to focus growth in core regions and supports our ongoing transformation into a predominantly renewable IPP, as reinforced by our recent rebranding.”
